Oklahoma State secures commitment from No. 44 basketball prospect Jalen Montonati.

Senior wing Jalen Montonati, ranked No. 44 in the 2026 SportsCenter NEXT 100, announced Thursday that he’s committing to Oklahoma State, giving new head coach Steve Lutz his first blue-chip recruit since taking over in 2024.

The top high school player in Oklahoma, Montonati chose the Cowboys over Kansas State and Oklahoma, following in the footsteps of his father, who played for Eddie Sutton at OSU in the late 1990s.

“In an era dominated by transfer-portal recruiting, they made me feel like a top priority,” Montonati told ESPN. “Coach Lutz called me the day after he was hired and stayed in constant contact. The staff’s support all summer was amazing—they came to every game.” Earlier this month, the Cowboys underscored their interest with a midnight in-home visit on the first day of the September recruiting period.

“We’ve built a great relationship, talking about both basketball and life,” Montonati added.

The 6-foot-6 Owasso High School standout averaged 15.8 points on the Nike EYBL circuit with MoKan last spring and summer, highlighted by a 29-point outburst against Brad Beal Elite at the Nike Peach Jam. He also helped USA Basketball capture gold at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, leading the team in three-pointers.

A long, skilled shooter who thrives coming off screens and finding space against tight defense, Montonati projects as an immediate floor-spacing weapon. He becomes Oklahoma State’s first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class.
