Two-time NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo is making his return to basketball by joining the Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks. The team announced Sunday that they had acquired Oladipo’s rights from the Santa Cruz Warriors. The veteran guard, who last played in the NBA during the 2022–23 season, had been out of action since suffering a torn left patellar tendon in the 2023 playoffs while with the Miami Heat. After entering the G League player pool over the weekend, Oladipo was first claimed by Santa Cruz, who then traded him to Wisconsin in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick in the G League draft.
Though he hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since his injury, Oladipo recently saw limited action during the preseason, suiting up for the Guangzhou Loong-Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association. His participation there signaled his intent to stage a comeback and continue his professional career after multiple injury setbacks over the past few years.
Now 33, Oladipo brings a decade of NBA experience to the Herd. Over his career, he has averaged 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 44% from the field. A two-time All-Star in 2018 and 2019, Oladipo was once regarded as one of the league’s premier two-way guards. His latest move marks a new chapter in his journey to return to the NBA and reestablish himself at the highest level of competition.
